Spooner is a visual guide which offers an easy way to discover the best dishes and restaurants in your area. It is an international company that delivers up-to-date dining and restaurant information to online and mobile customers in select cities across the world. It has more focus on searching particular food or dish.
Spooner believes it's all about dishes and not just restaurants. Spooner is a must mobile app for foodies. People across the world love to eat, and some of these people are real 'foodies' — they consume millions of meals at restaurants of different types.
Spooner approached Xicom to build mobile applications that would enable Android and iPhone users to easily search for food and restaurants by variety of keyword-driven parameters, make reservations and map their way to those locations. Spooner also helps you share your food experience with dish ratings, photos and reviews.
THE PROBLEM

Spooner wanted to build a mobile cross-platform application that would enable diners across the globe to use keywords on their mobile devices to search for restaurants based on a wide variety of information like food name, food type, specials, location, themes and much more.
The Spooner project involved a massive volume of data based on the huge number of diverse restaurants in all major cities, as well as distinct keyword-driven data types to make it easy for diners to find exactly what they wanted. This whole system also required an inbuilt reservation system, social media connections, and a navigation utility for mobile users to reach their destinations.
Major challenges to develop Spooner could be summarized as under:

- Xicom has worked hand-in-hand with Spooner founders to design and develop mobile applications that would accommodate the member restaurant content and informational offerings while simultaneously delivering an attractive, intuitive user experience for customers looking for information about those establishments and activities.
- Obviously there is a relationship between customers and restaurants which was to be defined by specific content types tied to keywords, including venue name, location, menu items, entertainment offerings and more. Additionally, Xicom incorporated special offers and coupons, a reservation system, social media connections and mapping services to guide would-be diners to their desired restaurant.
